9th Grade Mandalas
The Mandalas created by the 9th grade class look wonderful! Students had to choose five symbols that represent different parts of their lives. Some students created their mandalas on the computer, and others drew in their symbols. Many students had a main symbol that tied the rest of the symbols together, and others chose five unique symbols. Each mandala is different, showing that each AVID student is unique in their own ways.

AVID Shirt Day!!
Today, almost every AVID student in each grade level wore their AVID shirts. The pictures above were taken in the 9th grade classes as they were working in their tutorial groups. It was a great sight to see so many AVID students around campus in their shirts. In addition, Mr. Carmona, the assistant principal of Savanna High School, made an announcement on Rebel TV about the "D" in AVID, determination, for the benefit of every student at Savanna High School.

9th Socratic Seminar: Community Service
The 9th grade AVID classes had their second Socratic Seminar of the year. This time the topic was Community Service. Students in both classes brought up excellent points on the topic, and ideas were shared on where they or anyone else could perform service for their community. Since community service is something colleges look for in applicants, it is recommended that AVID students find ways that they could perform community service themselves.
